What's Vachana (Va-cha-na) meaning?
The Sanskrit word Vachana can be translated as "that which is". This is a profound expression which means that every experience we have is a complete experience. Everything that exists is born of the energy of the universe and is an expression of the universe. Any given object, situation or occurrence is a complete occurrence which is not of a higher or lesser value than any other occurrence. From this point of view, not only are all phenomena in the universe equal, but each phenomenon implies all other phenomena - this exists because that exists, and that exists because this exists.
Embodying the principle of "that which is" therefore encourages us to meet whatever arises – pleasant or painful, inside us or around us – with open acceptance. If something is happening, then we should accept it is happening, without adding to it, subtracting from it, pushing it away or being attached to it. From this place of acceptance and equanimity, we can then make a clear choice, informed by wisdom and calm, of how we want to proceed, which may or may not include seeking to change our situation.
